As dementia progresses, people often need more support. But our new research has found many families are left to cope alone after a diagnosis.
For years politicians have promised things will change. Now the promises must be kept.
In September, during World Alzheimer's Month, we'll be launching our new Promise to Care campaign. Please urge your MP to back the campaign.
At the campaign launch, we'll be outlining three key tests that the UK Government must meet if it is to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.
For reform to be truly transformative, it must ensure that everyone affected by dementia has access to:
- Coordinated care, underpinned by a named professional and access to dementia specialists.
- Proactive, personalised support from diagnosis through to end of life.
- Dedicated support for families and unpaid carers.
Your MP is much more likely to join us in ensuring that, this time, it's a promise fulfilled if you ask them to.
